Memphis-Afghan
Friendship Summit Will Bring Together Key Leaders to Build Relationships
for Rebuilding Afghanistan.
Memphis,
TN, August 22, 2002 – International Friendship Summits, Inc., a
non-profit organization of concerned Memphians interested in rebuilding
war-torn Afghanistan, will host the Memphis-Afghan Friendship Summit (MAFS),
October 9-14, to establish relationships and develop partnerships with
influential Afghan leaders that will result in health, education,
leadership, and business development strategies for Afghanistan.
Twenty
Memphis-based leaders in business, health, education, and executive
leadership sectors are being enlisted to host 20 high-level Afghan
government officials including Professor Akbar Popal, President of Kabul
University, M. Yousuf Nooristani, Minister of Irrigation and
Environment, as well as other Afghan cabinet members.
“Afghan
leaders will be exposed to the best of Memphis in all areas. Strong
relationships will be built for the purpose of building a bright future
in Afghanistan,” says Mark Morris, International Friendship Summits,
Inc. chairman.
The
schedule of activities for the six-day summit will include meetings with
interest groups, dialogue sessions, a tour of Memphis and reception, and
events featuring a taste of Memphis culture.
